Why WebP files are awkward
WebP is Google’s image format and it is excellent — smaller than JPG at the same quality, with transparency support. Every current browser reads it. The trouble starts everywhere else: older versions of Windows Photos, plenty of print shops, photo kiosks, some email clients and a long tail of desktop software still do not. Saving an image from the web and finding nothing will open it is a common way to end up here.
Converting to JPG trades a little file size for opening reliably in essentially anything.

Why can I not open a WebP file?
WebP is a newer format. Browsers all support it, but older desktop software, some photo printers and certain email clients do not. Converting to JPG solves it for good.
Will animated WebP files work?
Only the first frame is converted, because JPG cannot hold an animation. If you need the animation, keep the WebP or convert it to GIF with a dedicated tool.
Do I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?
A small amount, since both are lossy and the image is re-encoded. At the default quality it is not visible in normal viewing. Raise the slider if you are printing.
Is anything uploaded?
