Aspect ratio is always preserved
The numbers you enter are limits, not exact dimensions. An image is scaled down until it fits inside both of them, keeping its proportions, so nothing is stretched or cropped. Fill in only one to constrain a single axis — a max width of 1200 with the height left blank gives every image a 1200-pixel width and whatever height follows.
Images already smaller than the limits are left at their original size. Scaling a small image up does not add detail, it only adds bytes.
Questions
Can I resize to exact dimensions?
The tool scales to fit inside the limits you set while keeping the aspect ratio, so an image is never distorted. To get exact dimensions you would need to crop, which changes what is in the picture rather than only its size.
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Scaling down is done with the browser’s high-quality resampling and looks clean. Scaling up cannot invent detail, so this tool never enlarges beyond the original.
What size should I use for email?
A longest side of 1600–2000 pixels is plenty for viewing on any screen and keeps attachments small. For a website, 1200–1600 is typical.
Are the images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and your files never leave your device.
